A Promised Son

Psalm 132:11-12

11 The LORD has sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: “Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne. 12 “If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I will teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever.”

David was promised a son to sit on his throne forever.  While his son, Solomon, did sit on the throne, he was not the promised Son.  The promised was born centuries later, His name is Jesus.  Jesus was in the genealogical line of David.  He is the promised Messiah of Israel.  One day, Jesus will return and finally sit on the throne of David.

When He does, He will never relinquish the throne.  He will reign forever and ever.  There will be no end to His Kingdom.  No enemy will come close to overthrow it.  He will keep God’s law perfectly and never divert from it.  He is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s covenant with man.  Oh, what a glorious day that will be!

Will you be in His Kingdom?  Only those who have saved by His blood will be there.  We have all sinned and are in need of forgiveness.  Have you asked Him to save you?  If not do so today.  Tell Him you a sinner and in need of His grace.  Ask Him to forgive you.  Believe in Him as the Holy Son of God, who died to pay the penalty for your sins.  If you ask He will save you.

Oh Jesus, I thank you that You are the Son of God.  I so look forward to the day You will sit on David’s throne and will reign forever and ever.  What a glorious day that will be!  Amen.
