24 The LORD bless you, and keep you; 25 The LORD make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; 26 The LORD lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace.’ 27 “So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and I then will bless them.”
In the midst of giving Israel the laws, God pauses and gives Moses a blessing to have Aaron say. God tells them that this is the way to use His Holy name. Earlier he had instructed them not to take His name in vain. We are to bless people with the name of God, not curse them. Sadly, cursing is the way it is most used today.
How do you use it? Do you bless people with the name of God? Or do you use it to curse others. We need to be careful on how we use it. God’s name is Holy and we need to treat it with great respect. We should only utter it when are blessing others. We should say ‘God bless you’ more than just when somebody sneezes. It should be a part of our vocabulary to build others up.
Bless people in the name of the Lord!
Dear God, help me to have respect for Your name. Help me to treat it as Holy. Forgive me for the times that I fail to do this and the times when I misuse Your Name. Amen.
