The Father Knows

Psalm 138:6 For though the LORD is exalted, Yet He regards the lowly, But the haughty He knows from afar.

Let me start off by saying Happy Fathers Day, to all the dads out there.  Never forget who the best dad is, God the Father.  He knows His children.  He knows which ones are proud and which ones are humble.  Even though God is highly exalted in Heaven, He still knows everything about us.  He knows our attitudes.  He knows how we treat others.  He knows our moods while obeying Him.  Like the title of the old TV show, Father Knows Best.

God does not want us to obey Him grudgingly.  Our attitude in obedience is just as important as our obedience.  God wants us to server Him cheerfully, not all grumpy.  He loves it when we sing praise to Him as we obey, rather than mumbling and grumbling through it.  He knows our hearts and our motives.  He can tell the difference between a plastic smile and real genuine smile.

The Father knows.  We cannot fool Him, so do not even bother trying.  A lot of times, I can tell right away if my kids are lying to me, but you know what?  There are times I get it wrong and have to apologize to them.  God the Father never reads us wrong.  He knows.   He knows all about you.  He knows about any secret sin you have in your life.  Yet, even though He knows, He still loves you.  He is the Father in the story of the Prodigal Son, which Jesus told in Luke 15.  When we wonder, the Father is waiting for us to come home, with open arms.

We have a good, good Father.  Thank Him for that today.  Worship and praise His great name!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being a great Father.  Thank you for being my example as a father.  You know all about me and You love me.  Help me to humble.  Help me to serve You cheerfully.  Help me to give You all of the glory.  You are a good, good Father!  Amen.
