Fear the Creator

Psalm 114:7-8
7 Tremble, O earth, before the Lord, Before the God of Jacob, 8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of water

God is the creator of all and since He created all things, He has authority overall things.  When Israel was on their exodus from Egypt to the promise land, God twice had water come from a rock.  Moses tapped the rock and water flowed.  God is over all, even over nature.  He can provide for His people, even when the situation seems dire and no hope is found.  The people were in the desert and He provided water for them out of a rock.  How amazing?

He is the one we need to fear.  We need not fear Him because He is evil, but because of who we are in front of Him.  We are sinners and He is a Holy God.  Our sin smells and God cannot stand that smell.  Our only hope is to be bathed in the Blood of Jesus.  The blood washes the stank away.  That is the only way to be clean before God.  If we do not, we need to fear His wrath.  If we do, we need to fear Him, because of who He is and what He can do.  He is our Father and we need to fear Him like we do our earthly fathers.

Dear God, help me to fear You.  You are the creator of all and Lord over all.  This also means I can trust You, because You can provide in dire circumstances.  You are faithful and take care of Your children.  Please help me in my need and provide for me.  I need You, oh Jesus.  Please, I ask.
