Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.
The word fear in this verse can also be translated as reverence. To treat something or somebody with great respect. If you or I want to be wise, we need to greatly respect God. When we do that, we see Him as the all wise, creator of all things. He made all things so He knows how everything works and how it is made.
Revering God, means we come to Him humbly. In a way that acknowledges that He knows all things and we do not. Many people have a problem acknowledging this. Have you ever seen a person strut around like they know everything. They might use big words to make them sound more intelligent. They speak with confidence like they know what they are talking about. Sadly, all they are really doing is showing how little they know. It is hard to teach somebody wise things when they have this attitude. However, a humble person is willing to learn. God will teach the humble and give them wisdom. Be humble before God and admit you do not know everything. He already knows it.
God thank you for giving wisdom to the humble. Help me to be humble before You. For You know everything and I do not. Help me not to be proud, for You give grace to the humble. Help me to revere You, to give You the respect You deserve. Amen.
