Know Your Place

Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture

It is important to know your place, to know your role.  We need to know who we are and where we stand.  God is our maker, we are His creation.  He is God and you and I are not.  He gets to make the rules.  He decides what is right and what is wrong.  We do not.  If God, the Maker of all things, says something is wrong, then it is wrong.  We do not have a right to overrule Him.

Way too many people today, including many in the church, think that we know better than God.  That we are a better judge than Him as to what is right and what is wrong.  God does not change His mind, nor does He make mistakes.  He is God, we are not.

Our place is as sheep.  We belong to Him and need to listen to Him.  A good shepherd, which He is, will lead His sheep away from danger.  Listening to God will keep us on the right path.  Bad things might come, but we are safe when close to Him.

God, help me to know my place.  You are God and I am not.  You get to set the rules, I get to obey Your rules.  You know more than I do.  Thank you for being a good Shepherd.  You watch over Your sheep and protect us.  Amen.
