Psalm 41:9 Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.
We have all been betrayed by someone. And I think it is safe to say that we have all betrayed someone else. All of us are sinners and at times we sell others out for our own benefit. Sin tells us that we are more important than everybody else. God will not betray us. He is faithful.
This verse is applied to Jesus and Judas in the New Testament. Judas was a close follower of Jesus for 3 years and then he betrayed Him for 30 pieces of silver. He walked and talked and ate and lived with Jesus for those 3 years. He had intimate conversations with Jesus and yet when the time came, he sold Jesus out. He put his own thoughts and desires ahead of Jesus. Yet, Jesus put Judas’ and our interests ahead of His own. He died for Judas’ sins as much as He died for ours. I do not believe Judas was saved when he died. I believe Judas rejected Jesus and will be in hell. I beg you, do not reject Jesus. Do not choose to not believe in Jesus. Do not betray Him, like Judas did. Call out to Him and ask Him to save you.
Dear Jesus, thank you for loving us and dying for us while we were still sinners. Thank you for not betraying us. Help us to be loyal to you and to others. Teach us to put the needs of others ahead of our own needs. Thank you for your patience and love. Amen
