Psalm 32:1 How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered!
I heard an interview yesterday with Phil Robertson, of Duck Dynasty fame. He was on a secular talk show. No matter what the host asked him, he brought it back to the gospel. The good news that Jesus can save us from our sins. The host asked him if he still sins and Phil said that he does. He said only one person has never sinned and that was Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a perfect life and because of that He was able to die a sacrificial death, to pay the penalty for our sins. And He was able to defeat sin and death by rising again on the third day. Phil went to say that Jesus is in Heaven, at the right hand of the Father interceding for us constantly.
Do you have a smell, that when you smell it, it just wants to make you gag. Tuna is kind of like that for me. I cannot stand the smell of tuna. Our sin is like that to God. Our sins are an offense to God. He cannot and will not stand the smell of our sin. It needs to be covered. It needs to be forgiven. God is offering you and me forgiveness for our sins. The only thing we need to do to be forgiven, is to accept God’s offer and accept Jesus as the only way. There is no other way for your sin to be forgiven. No good works you can do to make up for it. No money that you can pay. Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Only the blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God, can take away your sin and my sin.
If you cannot say as David said, that he is blessed because is his sin is forgiven and his sin is covered, I beg you to call out to God right now. Ask Him to forgive you. Ask Him to save you. Confess to Him that you are a hopeless sinner and are in need of His hope. Tell Him that you want Jesus to rescue you from the pit of hell, which is the ultimate consequence for our sin.
If you can say as David said, that you are blessed by having your sin forgiven and covered. Spend time with Him today thanking and worshiping Him for how great He is! Ask Him to help you live a more holy life. Ask Him to reveal sins that you still have in your life and for the help to turn away from them and overcome them. Thank Him for interceding constantly for you.
Thank you God for your forgiveness!
