Psalm 10:1 Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?
Sometimes when we are going through tough times, it feels as if God has gone silent. That He no longer hears our prayers nor responds to them. We say as David did, why are you far off God? But is God really far from us?
At times, God does not answer us because we have unconfessed sin in our lives. We refuse to turn from that sin, so God turns from us. Other times, it doe not have anything to do with sin, such as in the case of Job. God used that tough time in Job’s life to bless Him even more. It became a time of growth for Job, in order for Him to experience God in a new way, on a deeper level.
When God seems far off to a Christian, He’s really not. We have His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He’s close by, keeping an eye on you. As a parent watching their little kid.
Take the time to examine your life for any sin you might be doing. Confess it to Him. After that keep praying to God and calling out to Him. Be persistent, as the widow in Jesus’ story in Luke 18. She kept asking the judge until he finally gave into her. God tells us to do the same. God will take care of you and lead you out of the storm. He is right there beside you the whole time!
