Genesis 22:18 “In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
Today we are going to talk about Abraham. God promised Abraham that all the nations would be blessed by his line. Through out the Old Testament God promised to send His Son. Matthew 1:1 tells us that Jesus is the son of Abraham. Jesus is the seed the verse above is talking about. We are blessed because Jesus was born and ultimately died for our sins and rose again.
In Genesis 22 God asks Abraham to prove that he loved God more than his son Isaac. He asked him to sacrifice Isaac, the son of his old age. His promised son, who God swore to establish an everlasting covenant with. This was a foreshadowing of God offering His son as a sacrifice, proving His love for us. One whom He affirmed an everlasting covenant with us.
Once again we see God’s love for us in the Christmas story. This is a reoccurring theme in the story.
