Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
How many sins does it take to fall short of God’s standard? The answer is just one. God’s standard is Himself, which is perfection. We all fall very short from that and contrary to popular belief God does not judge on a curve. We are not accepted into heaven by being better than others, because we are not. You are not better than somebody else. Your sin is just as abhorred by God as the other person. We all fall way short of God’s standard.
But the next verse gives us hope.
Romans 3:24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus
Getting into heaven is gift, given by the grace of God. We do not earn our way to heaven, but God has given a way through what Jesus has done.
Romans 5:25a whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith
The only way to receive that gift is through faith in Jesus, who shed His blood to pay for our sins. When we come to God through faith, God looks upon us as He would Jesus. He sees us without sin. He views us as righteous, as He views Jesus. The big theological term for that is Imputed Righteousness. But a gift is not a gift if it is not accepted. Please, do not reject this amazing gift!
