Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children
Phillips, Craig, & Dean sang a song named “I want to be just like you“, which as a father has always been in the back of my head. The whole premise of the song is that we need to be like God, because our kid(s) want to be like us. The chorus of that song, goes like this:
Lord, I want to be just like You
‘Cause he wants to be just like me
I want to be a holy example
For his innocent eyes to see
Help me be a living Bible, Lord
That my little boy can read
I want to be just like You
‘Cause he wants to be like me
We need to imitate Christ, so that are kids will too. No pressure, right? Jesus, while on earth, experienced every type of temptation we do, and yet did not sin. We need to study His life and learn from Him. Imitate Him! Be like Him! Live like Him!
Of course, thanks be to God, who enables and helps us to imitate Him. Without His intervention, we would have no chance. But God (Such great words! When you read those in verse, pay special attention), intervenes in our lives for His Glory. Because when we imitate Him, He gets the glory!
