Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful
Do not lose heart. God is faithful, hope in Him. Hold on to His promises, cling to them. His Word will never pass away (Matthew 24:35). His Word stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). God keeps His promises.
People will let you down, we never fail. As soon as you look up to an athlete, you find out they are cheating or not living up to the standard you expect. I remember one football player I really admired, Eugene Robinson. He was a bold Christian, proclaiming his faith. In 1998, he helped the Atlanta Falcons make the Super Bowl. The morning of the game, I woke up and my heart was broken. He had been arrested the night before for soliciting a prostitute. He had let me and a lot of other people down. Hear me when I say this, you’ll never wake up one morning to find that God has let you down. God is Holy, has always been Holy, and always be Holy. He will not let you down or break your heart.
Place your hope in Him. He is faithful!

Hebrews 9:22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Ever since the first sin in the garden, there’s never been forgiveness of sin without the shedding of blood. Adam & Eve sinned and an animal’s blood was shed as God offered them forgiveness and clothes to wear. As Moses received the law, animals blood was shed as a sacrifice for the peoples sins. Blood was spread on the instruments of the temple, sanctifying them. But no matter how much animal blood was shed, there was no permanent forgiveness of sin. That was until, our Lord Jesus appeared. He is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).
His blood was shed once, for all and because of that the penalty has been paid for our sins. Death has no claim to those in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:55-57). Praise to be Jesus, the Lamb of God!
If you have never applied Jesus’ blood to your sin, I invite you to cry out to Him to save you. Confess your sins and ask that His blood was you make you whiter than snow (Psalm 51:7). His blood is our only hope for salvation.
Hebrews 6:15 And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise
The “he” in this verse is Abraham. He waited for 25 years for God to fulfill His promise of a son. In those 25 years, Abraham moved many times and fell in and out of fellowship with God. He decided to hurry God’s promise by having a son with his maid. We still the effects of that decision today. When God’s timing was right, Isaac was born. God does not need us to bring about fulfillment of His promises. When He’s ready, He will fulfill them.
It’s hard at times to be patient. We have a tendency to look at our lives in days, where God looks at it in years. We need to adjust our sight line to match His and trust His timing. My pastor mentioned yesterday, that we need to stop looking at our lives through a microscope and instead look through a teloscope and see the whole picture.
Be patient and allow God to work. Trust Him, that He has your best in mind!
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Most of the time when I read this verse, I see it as referring to the Word as offensive weapon, with which we can fight spiritual battles. However, this morning as I read it, I see it a mirror that reveals my own heart and my own intentions. As we read through the Bible and look for ways to apply what we read, it should reveal things about us, whether good or bad. We must read the Bible with an open heart, allowing it to penetrate us and find areas of our live that need be confessed and changed. Sometimes if finds deep rooted sins that must be removed. Even though it can painful in the short term, we will be better off in the long term.
Open up your heart today and read God’s Word, listen to God’s Word and let it do the work that needs to be done. Thank You Lord, for your powerful Word.

Hebrews 2:9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
Jesus gave up all the benefits of Heaven, to be come to die for our sins. To pay our penalty. He gave up all of the luxuries of heaven for you and me. He left the beautiful heaven to be born in a stable. He left the Father’s side to be born next to ox and donkeys. All for you and all for me. He came and died that we might go to His home one day. What love!
Just thinking about what He gave up to come save me, makes me wonder about ‘What do I give up for Him?’ What luxury can I live without, so that I might better serve Him? What thing cannot I go without, that I might be able to help someone else with it? Something I need to think and pray about it and I challenge you to do the same today.
But before I end, I just want to say that giving up something up for Him, does not save me. It doesn’t make God love me or accept me anymore, than He does now. It sanctifies me. It helps me grow closer to Him.
Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving
As we move on from Thanksgiving to the Christmas season, Lord help us to keep an attitude of Thanksgiving. An true attitude of Thanksgiving contains contentment. For if you are truly thankful for what we have, we are content with we have. Also a true attitude of thankfulness contains an attitude of trust in God, believing He will meet all of our needs. For if we are trusting in God to meet our needs, we are content in what He is providing. All of these attitudes blossom together.
I urge all of us, me included, to be more devoted to prayer, this Christmas season. Take the time to talk to the one who can meet all of our needs, trust Him and tell Him thanks for all that He has done for us.
And if you have not trusted in Jesus as your savior, know that there is no greater Black Friday deal as offer of salvation. For on a Friday long ago, He died on the cross for your sins. He paid the price for you. Cry out to Him and ask Him to save you!

Psalm 9:1 I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders.
The Bible tells us that God created all things. The all things include beautiful wonders being made today. Think of the most beautiful sunrise or sunset. It was painted by God, give Him the praise for it. How about the stars on clear night? How wonderful, their light was created by Him. Not only that He is present their as they share their light, at the same time He is with you right now as you are reading this. There is no place where God cannot be. In Psalm 139, David talks about this. He can go no where God is not. How wonderful!
God is full of wonders. His love you is one of His greatest! His great love, caused a perfect God, to send His one and only Son, to die for our sins. Why would the perfect die for very unperfect? Because He loves you and wants you to be with Him! How wonderful!
Take time today to consider His wonders and thank Him for it!

2 Peter 1:4a For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature
God always keeps His promises. This was taught to my daughter’s Awana group all of last year. It’s such a great reminder for us as adults. To know our Great God, always keeps His word. If God did not keep His promises, we could not trust Him or what He says in the Bible. Thank God that He does. Because of this we have hope. Hope that one day Jesus will come back for us. That one day the devil will be defeated. That one day justice will be served. And that forever and ever we, as people who have put our faith in Him, will live with Him.
God’s Word is true and He always keeps His promises. Never forget that! And thank Him today for His faithfulness!

Acts 27:35 Having said this, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of all, and he broke it and began to eat.
All that we have, God has provided. All the food that we have, the house that we live in, the clothes that we wear; all belong to Him. God gives us water to drink and air to breath. There’s no way we would survive, if God did not provide. Yet, a lot of the times we do not thank Him for this basic stuff. We take it for granted. How ungrateful you and I can be at times. With every breath, we should praise Him and thank Him for the air that we breath.
Take time today, to thank God for the seemingly “little things” He provides. The little things that we could not live with out. God is so good!

Psalm 119:140 Your word is very pure, Therefore Your servant loves it.
When you are lost and need direction, you can use a map or a GPS. In life, we need to look to God’s word, the Bible. It gives us direction on how we should live our lives and teaches us about God. His word nourishes our souls. We need to be in it, reading it, memorizing it, and chewing on what we read every day. As the verse says, His word is pure and Holy. It will not lead us astray, instead it helps us follow the path we should take. It tells us about God’s promises. How He’ll always be there for us, how He will return one day. How and why He sent His son, Jesus, to die for our sins. It tells us how humans fail, but God never does.
Thank God for His word and the promises we find in it.
