1 Corinthians 10:13-14
12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

Books upon books have been written about temptation, so there’s no way to go cover all of it in this 30 second post.  It all boils down to one thing.  Why does God allow us to be tempted?  The textbook answer is for our good.  When we are tempted and learn to trust in God for the escape, we grow more like Him.  But I don’t about you, when we are deeply tempted that is easier said than done.  Especially when we have made past a similar temptation in the past.  The verse says to “take heed”,  watch out.  When I think I know how to overcome temptation and rely solely on myself, I do as the verse says and fall.  We on our own cannot overcome, but Jesus has!  He was tempted as we are and never failed.  As on old Petra song goes, “Life is minefield, and we need to follow Him through”.  Peter followed Him and walked on water and then turned away and sank.

Follow Jesus and don’t take your eyes off of Him!
